Is my original modified?
No. We never overwrite the file on disk — you download a new file.
How do I get under 500KB?
Enter 500 as the target or use Compress to 500KB. If quality alone is not enough, the long edge is reduced automatically.
How much quality do I lose?
At JPEG/WebP quality around 80 most people cannot see a difference on screen. Check the preview and size, then adjust the slider.
Are my files stored on a server?
No. Images are processed with Canvas in this browser; there is no upload request at all. Closing the tab clears memory.
